Our Story

Redwood Builds

All of us are called to be people who through our kindness and tenderness and focused, attentive love, return people to themselves. You do it in a particular way - through housing.

Greg Boyle, Homeboy Industries

Journey

Seeds of Hope

Redwood's vision developed and charity status approved. We completed the purchase of the first property, and United House was opened.

Taking Root

Redwood Second Suites launched, and we developed our strong partnership with Community Builders. Barrie Hockey Helps the Homeless launches, and we host the first YIMBY event.

Sprouting Possibility

Lucy's Place opened in partnership with Busby Centre. Redwood Furniture Bank launches its operations, and we celebrate the first YIMBY Week.

Branching Out

Redwood Rapid Rehousing Centre runs as a pilot, then in a new partnership with CMHA. The size of the Redwood team doubles and we create our first strategic plan. Redwood purchases a property in Midland  for redevelopment and starts running an Airbnb, The Loft on King as a social enterprise in the meantime, and acquires Couchiching Jubilee House in Orillia. Both Lucy's Place and United House expansions open, and Ayub's House opens. We sell our first Redwood Community Housing Bond, and Redwood Bean & Brew social enterprise cafe opens.
